Race Preview: McMinnville Run, Walk, Ride for Humanity

In its 13th year, the McMinnville Run,, Walk, Ride for Humanity, put on by Habitat for Humanity, continues to raise money to build home for low income families in the area. They have constructed over 40 homes since 1991. All of the funds that are raised during this event on June 14th go towards the cause. Events include a 5K and 10K course that you can choose to run, walk, or ride, and also extended ride options of 14, 27 and 40 mile courses. The longer bike rides start at 8 am, but the others are at 9. It is noted that the 9 am events are professionally timed but the longer rides are not. There will also be a kids run at 10 am that is 1/8th of a mile in length.

Registration opens at 7:30 am, and all of the courses close at noon. Everything begins and ends at Duniway Middle School at 575 NW Michelbook Lane. Online registration will open on the 28th at their official event page. There is also a team option, and you can add members at any time up until race day. There will be food and vendors after the event at the school.

I have participated in this event a couple times over the years. It is great to get out and support a local cause. I can’t speak for this year or last year, but in the past it has definitely been more casual, where course markings are not prominent and participants have to stop for traffic lights. That may have changed. The course should be beautiful, the west end of McMinnville is a great place to run.
