Relay Season is back at the HTC Windy River Relay

Who’s ready for relay season?! The Hood to Coast team is definitely ready, and the Windy River Relay in Hood River is a perfect, one day event that features the beauty and scenery of the gorge, while also sending runners up through the lush hills toward Parkdale and Odell, where you will run past orchards, wineries, vineyards and the beautiful countryside.

Having run a few dozen relays, we love the one day events for a number of reasons. As a runner, you tend to see the majority of teams on the course, and it really feels like you’re always running with a group. And because the race is about a third of the distance, the exchange points really become more of a party like atmosphere, with teams really cheering other teams on.

To top it all off, you don’t need to pack as much for the race, given each runner’s total commitment, which frees up space in the vehicles and lets everyone relax even more!

The course is a 64 mile loop, and is open to runner teams of 6, or walker teams of 4-6. Racers will start on the waterfront in scenic downtown Hood River, then wind uphill for the first half, before turning downhill and finishing where they started.
