Race Preview: 2023 Sisters Country

We are so lucky to have so many trail running options in Oregon, and perhaps this is the year you’ll want to check out the 2023 Sisters Country running event, brought to you by Alpine Running Company. Kick off your summer running in the heart of Sisters at Village Green Park on Sunday, May 7^th. This event will offer you the choice of a solo 20 miler, a team 20 miler, or a half marathon.

This race will begin with Backporch Coffee and end with a free burrito bar brought to you by Longboard Louie’s. And what goes better with that after a sweaty trail run than beer from Cascade Lakes Brewing? Not much can beat that.

The 20 mile course, whether you choose to tackle it solo as part of a team, will be on mostly single track trails with views of the Three Sisters amongst the ponderosa pines. There is 1200 feet of climbing and there are two cut-off times to be mindful of; 12:30PM for aid station #2 and 3:00PM at the finish. You can find more information about the course here.

The half marathon has only 700 feet of climbing and it’s a great trail run with a generous 5 hour cutoff time. 95% of this race is on single track trails with more stunning views. Read more about the course here.

Proceeds from this race will go to a local high school cross country team which will be helping out at the aid stations. There will be 3 aid stations for the 20 miler and 2 aid stations for the half marathon, and they will be stocked with water, Gnarly hydration drink, bananas, chips, coke, Spring Energy gels and Bob’s Red Mill bars.

Because this race will be held on multi-use trails that will be open during the event, please be sure to be aware of your surroundings. Additionally, no headphones will be permitted once you reach the paved road leading to the finish. Also, no dogs will be allowed, and spectators will not be permitted to drive to any of the aid station locations.

All finishers will get a finisher medial and the top 3 in gender and division will receive some awesome sponsor prizes.
