Though I get to test new shoes fairly regularly, there are really only a few brands that I get excited for. We all know, as runners, that we have OUR brands. These are the ones that work best, the ones we reach for often, the ones that are on standby for us when we need them for a big race. Saucony has been a brand I’ve trusted since I started running almost 20 years ago. They have always performed well for me and they have never let me down. It doesn’t hurt that I’ve always thought they look pretty awesome on too. I was thrilled to add a pair of Saucony Tempus shoes to my closet.
Looks:
At Run Oregon, we never know what to expect when we open the shoebox for the first time. When I received my pair of Saucony Tempus shoes in the mail, I actually drew in my breath when I saw them. They are bright, they are beautiful, and they are sharp!! I got them in a striking gold color, and they make me feel like I have the Midas touch when I slip them on. I’ve never received more compliments over a pair of running shoes than I have with these. And the bonus? I will be SEEN when I have these babies on … By all the cars!
Function:
Because these shoes are made by Saucony, they are more than just a “pretty face.” These shoes perform well too. The superfoam bounce gives my feet the energy they need to get through those early morning runs and the adaptive guidance system helps my feet feel secure and supported. If you’re looking for considerable spring in your step, this is the shoe for you.
Construction:
Saucony has a contoured and curved PWRRUN Frame which starts above the midsole and provides smooth landing support. There’s also more underfoot midsole contouring which lets your foot sit deeper into the footbed, so the shoe can give your foot a “supportive hug.” Saucony’s signature midsole, the adaptive lacing, and a lightweight breathable mesh upper will provide a great ride.
Fit:
Every point of contact with your foot will be considered with Saucony’s FORMFIT design. You’ll get a personalized fit and feel no matter what you need. The lightweight midfoot saddle is comfy and supportive at the same time and the durable XT-900 outsole will perform for your short and long runs alike.
Overall/For Consideration:
Saucony is known for dependable and quality shoes, and the Tempus is no exception. Currently available in 6 colors, you’ll surely find a pair that you like. From my first 4 miler in them to a trip to the gym to double digit miles downtown, these shoes could handle it all. My feet never hurt, my gaity stayed “springy” and I never felt heavy in the Saucony Tempus.
