2019 Races on our Radar #24: June 18

Welcome to the latest post in the 2019 Races on our Radar series, where we report on cool and/or low-cost races, group runs, price and registration deadlines, and other things we think you should know about it.

We would like to you hear from you, too. If you’re in the know on a race that you think others need to check out, let us know via email, twitter, or facebook!

Low-cost Races Coming Up Soon:

  • Just announced: The Run Northbest Series will return to Beaverton this August! The first three Wednesdays in August, they’ll have a 5k at Greenway Park starting at 6:30. The Series is $45 and there’ll be Deschutes Beer after each run.
  • Heads up, the next Oregon State Penitentiary Run is July 19th. Remember you need to send your registration in early for the background check, so get planning. Other dates are August 16, September 6, and October 6.
  • Friday the 21st is Salem’s Summer Solstice 5k/10k. Registration is only $16 and the races start at 7a.
  • Redmond’s Summer Solstice Shuffle 5k on the 21st is only $15, and it starts at 6p. There’s also a mile run.
  • Ladies, sign up for FREE for the Badass Ladies’ Scavenger Hunt on Saturday, June 22, put on by Run Oregon founder Kelly Barten. You can make a donation to Reason to Run or Girls on the Run if you’re like, as well. There are long and short courses and the hunt is in the Progress Ridge neighborhood of Beaverton.
  • The weekend after the 4th of July, head to Wallowa County for the Lostine River Run. Running on the 6th, this race is only $20.
  • If you’d rather run at the coast, the Ocean’s Edge 5k/10k is on the 6th in Lincoln City. There’s a 5k for $15 and a 10k for $25.

About Author

We started the Run Oregon blog in February 2007, because felt like running in Oregon and SW Washington deserved more positive coverage. We also wanted to level the playing field so that small, non-profit races could compete with big events; and to support local race organizers.
