Elevating my Commitment with the Tracksmith NDO 2024 Collection

In my younger years, taking no days off was a constant push for me. I wanted to be that athlete who always put running at the very top of my to do list – regardless of what the day had in store for me.

As we know, there are a ton of awesome people out there who are successfully taking part of running streaks and have made it a part of their lives – and absolute kudos to them. For me though, through trials, and a lot of error, I have had to redefine what “no days off“ means for me and the Tracksmith NDO collection is a good place to start.

Self-reflection, over time, has had me reflect internally. I now know that my personality operates on an “all in or all out” way. Basically, either I’m balls to the wall, or just kicking back and not doing anything. This has led over the years to periods of extreme fitness, but also extreme laziness, a teeter totter of a lifestyle that has seen my weight and energy fluctuating continuously, and injuries – mostly from overworking – being more present.

So, this year I decided that “no days off” is going to have a new meeting for me. Instead of it meaning that I need to run X number of miles or get an X number of hours of workouts per day, instead I am taking “no days off” from self-care – in whatever capacity that means.

Some days that will mean that between work, three kids, and a spouse I don’t see nearly enough, 15 to 20 minutes to do some stretching, yoga, or meditation will be all I have available to give. Other times, it will mean getting out there on the road and burning off some anxiety in the form of a long run. For days like those, Tracksmith’s No Days Off gear has me covered – especially in these cool temperatures.

Here’s a little bit about this collection:

No Days Off is a call for consistency. The steadfast commitment against the season’s unpredictability. It’s not a sprint to our limits but a sustained effort where the act transforms into ritual, as the season offers an opportunity to recommit to consistency. As December’s cold rolls in, winter reveals itself as a landscape rich with introspection and transformation. Our No Days Off Collection is carefully designed to help you weather the worst.

NDO Jacket

The Tracksmith NDO Jacket is a pricy option – definitely an investment – but seriously a jacket that may last you the rest of your running life. With this top, you don’t need a ton of layers as many other jackets require. There is definitely enough insulation to wear this with a simple tee or LS underneath, yet its somehow not overly bulky (thanks to layered bonded Merino Wool). The outside is made from a windproof and water-resistant fabric – Schoeller Dryskin – making it perfect for anything the PNW can throw at you.

Construction:
  • Shell: 51% Merino Wool, 28% Nylon, 16% Polyurethane, 5% Elastane
  • Paneling: 80% Nylon, 20% Elastane

As far as fit goes, it fits a nice middle ground – not too tight and not too loose (size up or down depending on your preference). The panels in the underarms allow for the arms to flow smoothly and unrestricted when running. Speaking of arms, it’s pretty cool how the sleeves have an inside gaiter with an elastic cuff to keep the cold air at bay.

NDO Tee

Challenging the statistic that the average “New Year’s Resolution” fizzles out in just 32 days, I am challenging myself to a higher standard this year. Embracing the philosophy that gentle reminders and positive reinforcement can be transformative, I’ve found solace in the simplicity of the Tracksmith NDO Tee. With its understated design in black adorned with the 2024 ND logo, I’ve adopted it as not only a piece of apparel, but as a gentle reminder each time I throw it on.

Construction:
  • 88% Cotton / 12% Rayon Jersey

This comfortable T-shirt symbolizes my commitment to persist, pushing myself to consistently strive for improvement in both my running pursuits and overall wellness. It serves as a daily affirmation, urging me to embrace the journey and maintain a steadfast dedication, refusing to take any days off from the pursuit of running and personal growth.

Fens Mittens

Running in winter poses a unique challenge for me – my fingers always seem to resist warming up despite wearing gloves. Even with my best efforts, cold hands persist from the beginning, and alongside freezing toes, nothing prompts a quicker turnaround than chilly fingers. Enter Tracksmith’s Fens Mittens, a stylish and functional solution to extend those winter miles comfortably.

Construction:
  • 100% Polyester Kore-Techno Fleece,
  • Bluesign & OEKO-TEX certified fabric

Available in a simple and appealing grey shade, these mittens effortlessly complement both running attire and casual wear. The plush fleece interior not only offers a cozy comfort level but also tempts me to preserve them from the typical stench associated with running gear.

Despite being moisture-wicking, the mittens exude a softness that leans towards a fashion-forward appeal rather than a mere running accessory. The thoughtful addition of a magnetic button to keep them securely attached together adds a practical touch to an already impressive winter running essential.

Striking a balance between functionality and style, they have proven to be a delightful companion this winter.

Tracksmith x Camelbak Insulated Water Bottle

When hitting the trails or covering miles, a bulky 21-ounce insulated water bottle might not be the ideal choice. Many opt for a lightweight hand-strapped bottle or a reservoir pack for more convenient hydration on the go. However, when engaged in workouts on the track or at home, having a reliable option becomes essential. While I’ve experimented with various water bottles for these settings, extended use, frequent washing, and the addition of hydration powders necessitate periodic replacements.

Enter the Insulated Water Bottle, a noteworthy component of the Tracksmith NDO Collection in collaboration with Camelbak. This bottle stands out for its simplicity, functionality, and aesthetic appeal. It proves to be a reliable companion for workouts, seamlessly blending practicality with a stylish design.

With the No Days Off Collection, there is literally no excuse (at least not in the gear department) to not get out there and put in a few miles. We obviously understand the price point may be a little higher than some other options out there, but we often find it hard complain much about with these items, as they accomplish what they say they do.
