Hitting our Stride at Hopscotch Portland

I live further south in the Willamette Valley, so when I make it up to Portland I try to spend a whole day up there if I can. Not only are there great locations to run, but there are tons of new cool events and activities that pop up in the Rose City.

On our recent trip to PDX, I got in a few miles and followed that up with a fun family-friendly, unforgettable immersive art experience: Hopscotch.

The Running:

Before diving into Hopscotch, lets talk a little bit about running in Portland. My guess is that most of our readers have ran here at least once, so this probably isn’t gonna be a shocker of a list. Hopscotch sits in SE – not too far from the river.

This means you get a picturesque running route in close proximity, allowing you to embrace the city’s natural beauty while preparing yourself for an extraordinary art-filled journey.

With its prime location, the Waterfront Loop is the obvious place to start. If you think that you want to start or end a long run with a stop near Hopscotch, there are plenty of ways to expend your distance in the immediate location. You got this.

The Experience:

I am not going to spend much time getting into all the details of the dozen or so rooms / experiences at Hopscotch. You can see my pictures and read about each, but you can’t really get the full idea and quality unless you try it out for yourself.

Some are visual in nature, others incorporate sounds/music, and still others rely on a tactile blending of multiple senses. It’s really unique and impressive what Hopscotch has managed to do. Do yourself a favor and check it out.

Once you’ve energized yourself with a  run, get ready to delve into the enchanting world of Hopscotch. This immersive art experience is designed to transport participants into a realm where imagination and reality blend seamlessly. It really is something.

Combining cutting-edge technology, vibrant visuals, and interactive storytelling, Hopscotch delivers an immersive encounter that will leave you awestruck.

Upon entering the Hopscotch installation, you’ll find yourself immersed in a captivating multi-sensory environment. Prepare to be mesmerized as art comes to life around you, stretching the boundaries of your imagination.

Each step you take will lead you through a carefully curated journey, where digital and physical art intertwine, inviting you to participate and explore. From interactive exhibits to stunning visual displays, Hopscotch offers an experience that engages all your senses and sparks your creativity.

Honestly, while these pictures are pretty good – if I do say so myself – they can’t even come close to doing it justice in person.

The Dates:

Hopscotch will be in Portland for the foreseeable future, as they signed a 10-year lease. They are open Wednesdays through Sundays (off Mondays and Tuesdays) and you can sign up for each hour or half hour from noon through 830pm.

To ensure a personalized and intimate encounter, each session is limited in capacity.

We recommend at least an hour to go through at least once. There is no time limit so you can circle through as many times as you wish. Be sure to secure your spot early, as this immersive art experience is expected to be in high demand. We went at noon and liked being the first ones in the doors. This made the first 20-30 minutes of experiences pretty quiet.

Hopscotch also has a small bar and food area as well – with fun and unique items for purchase.

Portland’s Hopscotch Immersive Art Experience promises a one-of-a-kind adventure, where art and technology merge to create an unforgettable journey. Begin your day with an invigorating run along nearby routes, then step into a world where imagination takes center stage.

Mark your calendar, secure your tickets, and get ready to embark on a truly unique art encounter that will ignite your senses and redefine your perception of reality.
