Drink LMNT – Win LMNT from Run Oregon

Dehydration can sneak up on you, especially now that the weather is really warming up. While we may not be dealing with Phoenix level heat, temperatures and humidity in Oregon can reach highs that make dehydration a serious threat.

I’m a salty runner, and I’m not talking about my sense of humor. I sweat profusely when I work out, and I actually get SALTY after a long run, particularly on a hot day. I can actually feel and see the powdery white salt on my arms, face, and chest. Yet while I had gotten into the habit of consuming electrolyte beverages years ago, it was mostly because they were a sweet and tasty alternative to water.

I didn’t really think much about different sources of electrolytes, and what kind or how much my body might need–I really thought that it was something only “serious” runners thought about. But it’s definitely a good thing to think about, because we all want to feel good during our runs.

The simplified version is this: our bodies have salt and water in them, our bodies work best at a particular ratio of salt to water, and when we exercise, we lose both salt and water. Too little or too much salt and water can have negative consequences, as can having the wrong ratio.

For runners who sweat a lot, runners who have very salty sweat, and for runners who sweat for a long amount of time, it’s possible that they’ll need to supplement with some form of electrolytes. Not having enough salt can result in cramps, nausea, and headaches, as well as much more severe symptoms.

LMNT is a fantastic electrolyte drink mix that I highly recommend. When it comes to taste, it truly delivers. The flavors are refreshing and vibrant, making it a pleasure to consume. The natural sweetness and well-balanced flavors make LMNT enjoyable without being overly sugary or artificial.

What sets LMNT apart is its impressive ingredient list. It contains a carefully formulated blend of electrolytes, including sodium, potassium, and magnesium, which are essential for hydration and muscle function. Additionally, LMNT is free from sugar, artificial sweeteners, gluten, and any other unnecessary additives. Yes, there is Stevia, but I could NOT taste it – which is a good thing. This clean and simple ingredient profile makes it an excellent choice for runners who need efficient hydration without any unwanted ingredients.

We started the Run Oregon blog in February 2007, because felt like running in Oregon and SW Washington deserved more positive coverage. We also wanted to level the playing field so that small, non-profit races could compete with big events; and to support local race organizers.
