It’s time to register for Bend’s oldest foot race: The Bigfoot 10K Run. Running since 1976, this event is a fast downhill course with almost 500 feet of elevation loss. Starting at the Cascade Lakes Welcome Center, the course winds downhill on a bike path then connects to the Deschutes River Trail and finishes at Riverbend Park. The course is half pavement and half smooth, wide trail.
Please note: parking will be available at Inn at the Seventh Mountain less than a half mile away. Parking will NOT be permitted at the starting line in the Welcome Center lot. Drop-off, biking, or walking to the start is encouraged.
The Bigfoot 10K, put on by Central Oregon Running Klub, is a fundraiser for the Bend-LaPine School Cross Country teams.
After the Bigfoot Race the Littlefoot will be held at Riverbend Park at 10:20 A.M. This multi-lap race around the park is for the little ones. For just a $5 donation on race day, the kids can get in a run too.
If you’re hoping for a 10K PR in 2022, this is the race to try and make that happen. And, you don’t want to miss out on fall in Central Oregon. The setting for this race definitely makes it a “can’t miss” kind of event.
