Time to Trail It Out: 2022 Oxbow Trail Runs (Gresham, OR)

Trail running is a great adventure, but it can sometimes feel a little bit overwhelming for folks new to running the dirt rather than the sidewalk or the track. That makes the 5K, 10K, and half marathon options so good at Oxbow Trail Runs. The courses are in Oxbow Regional Park, just 30 minutes from downtown Portland. And the loop course for the half marathon means never feeling too far away from home base.

The 5K event is extra family friendly with a $25 (aka half price) option for participants 18 and under. The course includes a gravel road before primarily using a trail by the Sandy River. The 10K and half marathon courses involve more elevation than this primarily flat option. The longer routes include Alder Ridge, passing alongside Elk Meadow, and some stairs to add in a bit of extra adventure. All courses have aid stations to support participants along the way.

After finishing, all participants will get a well-earned root beer float (guests can purchase their own treat for $5). Participants and guests are encouraged to enjoy the rest of the day at Oxbow Regional Park. Maybe a float on the river to go along with that root beer float?
