After 10 years in Yamhill County, the Oregon Wine Country Half Marathon is moving to Independence! The new course promises scenic views and small town charm mostly run on paved roads with a short gravel section.
“This scenic “lollipop” 13.1-mile course from Downtown Independence provides a unique tour of the heart of the Willamette Valley. Starting on Main Street in Independence, runners will travel past welcoming residents and local businesses, before embarking on miles of gorgeous country roads.”
And, the post-race celebration will once again be a wine and music festival featuring local winemakers.
In addition to the half marathon, there is a half marathon 2 person relay (with the exchange at mile 6.1) and a 5K option. There will be aid stations approximately every 2 miles on the half marathon course, but none on the 5K course.
This event has been hosted by the non-profit Sport Oregon (formerly Oregon Sports Authority) since 2019.
Participants will receive an event t-shirt and a wine tumbler or beer glass.
There will be 2 pre-race packet pick-up locations. One at Riverview Park in Independence and the other in Portland at Sport Oregon. Day of race packet pick-up will incur an additional $15 fee.
