Race Recap: 2019 Salem Run’ucopia 5K, 10K, and 15K

This was my first year running the Salem Run’ucopia but I have a feeling it won’t be my last! I was blown away by how many people were all running this year on Thanksgiving Day, with 866 finishers between all 3 races! We had a small group of us that all ran together this year and at the last minute I swapped my 10K entry for the 5K as I was not feeling particularly great from Friendsgiving the evening before which definitely bogged me down.

The course was familiar starting at the pavilion at Riverfront Park in downtown Salem and meandered over the taco bridge as we so lovingly call it down into Minto Brown Island Park. From there we kept going, turned around, and followed our original path back to the finish. While I almost always do a Thanksgiving run of some sort, I had somehow never had this one on my radar until this year. I loved how quick the race director/volunteers got everyone out as quickly as possible after the race with awards and announcements as we all had cooking to get back to. Having the option for 3 different distances and freezing out there with everyone else was awesome!
