Race Preview: Storm the Castle ’19 – 5K Military Style Obstacle Course Race (Salem)

Obstacle Course lovers, here it is! Storm the Castle ’19 is about to take over Riverfront Park in Salem and give you an awesome challenge. Hosted by the 1249th Engineer Battalion of the Oregon Army National Guard, this 5K military style obstacle course race is designed for teams of 2. Many of the obstacles will require working together with your teammate, so choose wisely! šŸ˜‰ And, good news for obstacle race purists, this is a true obstacle course raceĀ  – meaning NO MUD! Even better, this event is free! (Truly free! No hidden after the fact costs!)

With a total of 20 obstacles, this OCR includes balance beams, a sandbag carry, a buddy drag, walls, a tire flip, and much more. Check out the course map on the Storm the Castle 5K event page on Facebook. This 3rd annual event sounds like an excellent team event with plenty of challenges and fun along the way. I have to admit, I am really bummed that I won’t be able to attend this year. But, this is definitely on my “must do” list for next year. For those that can make it, grab a teammate, get registered, and go have a ton of fun for me!
