When I’m in the final stretch of a hard run, I love putting on what I call “Girl Power” music like Sara Bareilles, Pink, or Carrie Underwood. I need that strong beat to keep me moving when every part of my body wants to lie down on the side of the course. Although often I mix up the playlists, one musician who hasn’t made it onto the list yet is Beethoven. But after learning about this race, I might need to add in some classical chords.
For the Beat Beethoven’s 5K, the goal is for you to finish the race before the orchestra finishes the song. The event begins at 9am and runners have approximately 33 minutes for that 5th Symphony goal. Of course all runners and walkers are invited to join in this fun, no matter if they finish before or after the recording does. And all those participants will be helping to support the Central Oregon Symphony.
All participants receive a t-shirt, Symphony member ticket, raffle ticket, ribbon, and the chance to meet and have a picture taken with Beethoven. And there is also a costume contest that will be held before the race. Come rock your Mozart, Katy Perry, or any musician or composer to try to win one of the awards for individuals and teams.
