Come to Charleston on July 13th to run a fun 5k and support a good cause! The 2019 South Slough Trail ‘N Treat, quoted as a run “where the river meets the sea, along vast tidal flats, extensive marshes, and meandering channels” will be an adventure!
This race, which will also offer a FREE ¼ mile Kid’s Dash is only $15 if you’re a member of the South Coast Running Club, and still inexpensive at $25 if you aren’t. Costs increase $5 on day of race, but there’s also a (day of race only) family membership option for $15 which covers 2-3 family members ($5 for additional family members.) Organic cotton t-shirts and Bondi Bands will also be available for purchase before July 1st or race day while supplies last.
Fill out the South Coast Running Club’s membership form to save money on races such as these! This race is the 2nd in the Triple Crown Race Series. There’s a unique interlocking medal for each of the July races.
The South Slough Trail ‘N Treat will benefit the Friends of South Slough Reserve, Inc. (FOSS) which is a non-profit that supports the Reserve education fund. Check them out here.
The race will take place at the South Slough National Estuarine Research Reserve which is 4 miles East of Charleston. The “treat ‘n trail” will offer you some technical trails, boardwalks, and plenty of hills, with a 300’ change in elevation. The course will be clearly marked and there will be plenty of volunteers out there to show you the way. The kid’s race will begin at 9:30AM and will be followed shortly after by the 5k.
There will be participation ribbons for all the Kid’s Dash participants as well as award patches for age groups in both events. All participants will get estuary-themed medals and a Rice Krispy treat to celebrate victory!!
