Race Preview: 2019 Deschutes Dash Multi-Sport Event (Bend)

Deschutes Dash in Bend is back for its 16th year, with the same great events it hasbecome known for, including both an Olympic distance triathlon and a sprint triathlon, as well as a 10K and 5K run. All events take place on the same day, with all events finishing at Riverbend Park. My wife, my son, and I ran the 5K last year and had a great time. Beyond the perfect weather, it was fun to watch the triathletes come streaming in from the river and take to their bikes. We also enjoyed all the vendor booths that were set up, including all the goodies for post-race snacks!

Weather in Bend in July can be fairly warm, although last year was ideal, with temps near 75 when we finished. Also, the start/finish is conveniently located next to the Old Mill and several amazing food options to feed your post-race hunger. The entire Deschutes Dash events are a great way to get the whole family involved, as there is a “Try-Tri” event for would-be first time triathletes, and the 5K is a flat, fun course that features a little dirt, a little pavement and even a little grass. Come on over and Dash!

When: Saturday, July 16th. Triathlon and Duathlon events all start at 7am. Both running races start at 8am.

Register/Cost: Register online. Costs vary by event. 5K = $45.00. 10K = $50.00.
