CBD. Those three little letters in the alphabet have been known to spark a bit of controversy. With the legalization of marijuana in Oregon, the use of CBD and cannabis is a hot button issue for some, and people have a lot of opinions about the health benefits. As a long distance runner, I find some pain to be a way of life, especially as I get older. CBD has been said to help with inflammation among many other things, so I knew this was an avenue that I was willing to explore.
Wildflower is a company out of Canada that believes in the power of plants and they have several CBD and cannabis wellness products available. Many of these products, like the cool stick and the soap that I was afforded the opportunity to test, are easy to incorporate into everyday life, which makes the process so much easier in an already jam-packed lifestyle. Wildflower’s products are 100% natural and the full-spectrum CBD extracts come from the highest quality hemp plants and contain essential amino acids and terpenes.
I was most interested in trying out the cool stick, which rolls on in a similar fashion as deodorant would. I’ve been battling some hip pain recently and with a 50k trail run approaching, the Wildflower cool stick could not have come at a better time.
The cool stick is suggested for use after a hot bath or shower for the best absorption (perfect for after you use the soap, but we’ll get to that later.) However, you could use this anywhere at any time which makes it a great product you could pop into your bag for right before or after a run. This hemp-based cool stick contains 300mg of CBD and less than .03% of THC (there is also a 500mg version as well). It also contains some really awesome stuff like coconut oil, shea butter, Arnica, Vitamin E, peppermint oil, and menthol crystals. It smells like a peppermint stick and it looks like deodorant or a large stick of chapstick. It’s not greasy or messy and it doesn’t leave any residue behind.
When I put the cool stick on for the first time, I initially thought it didn’t feel like it was going to have any effect at all. I didn’t feel anything. But after a few minutes, the effect began and it was amazing. I felt a tingle in my hip and it was warm, like I had a heating pad on it. It was honestly amazing. I went for a run and my hip felt great.
The cost of the cooling stick is $59.99, and I honestly it’s worth every penny if you are battling injuries or other running-related aches and pains. A little goes a long way and I can’t think of a better healing tool in my arsenal right now. Read some of the benefits of this product in the specs below and you’ll see that you’re getting plenty of bang for your buck.
I used the soap for the first time after an evening run. I take baths at night sometimes to calm me down before bedtime, and this soap is simply amazing for this purpose. We tried out both the lavender and vanilla scents, and both felt calming and not overpowering.
As with the cool stick, I didn’t feel the effects immediately. But it felt good on my skin. It contains coconut oil, lye, lavender essential oil, and the full spectrum CBD oil. It can be used to take off makeup, to help with skin issues, or even as shampoo. It basically kills about 12 birds with one stone at a cost of $29.99 for 3 bars. When I climbed into bed after using the soap, I felt that same tingle in my body that I felt with the cooling stick.
If you’ve been wanting to try something with CBD in it for pain relief, I suggest you give some of the Wildflower products a try. I’ve personally got a lot of races ahead of me, and self care is becoming more and more of a priority. Their products are clearly quality items and I plan to invest in more of them this year. I just ranted to my father about the benefits I felt from the cooling stick and he’s going to order some for himself shortly.
