Clean Like a Man with Art of Sport

I’m a man, therefore I stink. As a result, I am constantly on the prowl for the latest and greatest hygiene products out there that provide me the ability to not seem as gross as my body seems to like to give off. We recently came across Art of Sport, a company that strives to take skincare to the next level by removing a lot of the chemicals (i.e. parabens, alcohol, etc.) that infuse many mass-produced hygiene options, and received a few items to test.

We were sent selections from Art of Sport‘s “Compete” line, which are citrus-inspired (green pear infused) concoctions. Instead of being chemical-based, this line is made with aloe vera and tea tree oil and is designed to provide an energizing feel. They also have a “Rise” line that is cedar-infused and vanilla finished, if that’s more your style.

Right off the bat, throughout the entirety of the Compete line the citrus scent-profile is definitely there, but I didn’t find any of the products nasally overpowering – which was nice. This can be an issue with some man-centric hygiene products (looking at you Axe), but AoS provides an understated scent that doesn’t make me feel like I just bathed in a tub of fruit juice.

Their body bars come in a 2-pack and add activated charcoal and shea butter in an effort to balance performance with not drying the skin out in the process. The deodorant and antiperspirant lines have an additional scent “Challenge”, which is made from sandalwood, fir needle, and fresh basil. The sunscreen is SPF 50, and is perfect when running in the warm summer months (or anytime when the sun is out), as it is water-resistant for up to 80 minutes. It’s also reef-friendly (i.e. perfect for that tropical “run-cation”) and I loved that it rubbed in super quickly and was also not greasy – the main thing that turns me off from application of sunscreen.

It can be tough to formally review hygiene products (I mean, how much detail do you need about deodorant or soap application?), but AoS really has a fantastic line that lives up to the expectations we had going in.
