Small Race Preview: 2018 Lakad for Life 5k (Portland)

A few years ago, my brother-in-law and his family moved to the Phillippines and started learning Tagalog. In addition to his work, he is involved with a lot of great causes and communities in an area that is of great need. I also attempted to learn a few words in his new language, but got nowhere real fast. LAKAD is the Tagalog word for walk or move, and on September 29th, LAKAD PDX will host its 2nd annual LAKAD – a 5K that will raise funds for various health-related projects and initiatives in the Philippines. They will be partnering with the National Alliance for Filipino Concern, that would provide free relief and rehabilitation to communities in need.
The run will take place at Laurelwood Park and finishers will receive a tee-shirt and top-3 finishers will receive a custom made medal.
