Small Mid-Valley Race Previews: 2018 Strawberry Festival Run (Lebanon) & Santiam Hospital Fun Run (Stayton)

Do you like strawberry shortcake? How about a serving of the “World’s Largest Strawberry Shortcake?” Bring your family out to the Strawberry Festival to do so on June 2nd in Lebanon, OR and while you’re there, you can lace up those running shoes for the Strawberry 5k & 1 Mile Fun Run, which has proceeded the Grand Parade since 1986. Your entry fee will help fund a Junior High Cross-Country team in Lebanon.

Both distances for this event will tour the Grand Parade route just before the parade begins at 11:00AM. The route will be a flat and fast one and it’s a nationally certified course. There will be a great cheering squad of parade-goers to keep you motivated all along the way. The 1 Mile Fitness Walk or Kid’s Run will be a great option for those who don’t want to run or walk they 5k.

The course will begin in Historic Downtown Lebanon on Main Street near the American Legion, (corner of Main Street and Rose Street.) The course will travel South on Main before returning back. Registration and packet pick-up will also be here and it’s suggested that you plan to arrive early, as parking could be a bit chaotic with the parade occurring as well as the run/walk.

There will be prizes for top finishers as well as available to kids 12 and under who participate in the 1 Mile Fun Run. All kids who participate in either distance will receive finisher’s ribbons. There is a costume contest as well, and the theme this year is “Strawberry to the Rescue.”
