Oregon businessman Richard “Dick” Inukai has been instrumental in rebuilding the former Hillsboro Boys and Girls Club, now known as the Inukai Family Boys and Girls Club, among other philanthropic ventures in the Portland area. The upcoming Dick Inukai Birthday 5K Run is a fundraising race – now in its sixth year – that benefits the Inukai Family Foundation:
Inukai Family Foundation goals are to create positive youth development, educational grants and scholarship support to teachers and students, scholarship support to the sons and daughters of employees of Dick’s Auto Group, support healthcare needs, and Japanese education and awareness.
The race takes place on May 20, 2018, starting at Dick’s Country Chrysler in Hillsboro. It’s an out and back 5K with a number of right angle turns and straight line segments and looks fairly flat. In the past, timing services have been provided by Huber Timing.
Race time is 9 a.m., with packet pickup beginning as early as 7:30 a.m. that morning in the Service Department of the auto dealership. Cost is $35 for a 5K entry, with online registration closing at 6 p.m. PDT on May 17.
