As runners and walkers, you know how being involved in a sport can change your life. It connects you with a team, improves your physical health, releases stress, helps you discover new purpose, and gets you out of your comfort zone. That’s why I’m so excited to share details with you all about the Capital FC Half Marathon this June, which benefits the Capital City Futbol Club. By participating in this event, you get yourself moving and support a non-profit soccer club that gives financial assistance to 40% of its athletes. You get to help the next generation of athletes and leaders!
Now if being part of good in the world is not enough, the course itself is a pretty great opportunity for runners headed to Salem. I loved the description from the website: “You’ll enjoy running along the abandoned rail-line behind the fields, over the railroad bridge, and through the rolling hills and scenic farmland of the beautiful Willamette Valley.” The primarily loop course will give you lots of views in and around Salem.
If you’re not up for a half marathon this June, not to worry, there are also 5K and 10K options. Only half marathon finishers will receive a medal, but everyone will be able to enjoy live music and craft beer after finishing (okay, I guess only 21+ will get the beer but everyone can enjoy the rest of the party).
