For whatever reason, post-run I crave salsa and chips. And I devour them if I get my hands on them! I also love Mexican food in general – tamales and tacos for days! Combine that together for a race?! OMG I’m there!
The first ever, Tamale Trot, has well, tamales, Mexican culture, beer, music, and is a celebration of Dia de los Muertos or the Day of the Dead. It boasts a kids run, a 5K run/walk and a 10K run/walk through and around the beautiful Salem Riverfront Park. It is also being put on by the Friends of Pimpollo, a nonprofit organization with the mission to provide educational opportunities to children and their families living in the impoverished regions of Oaxaca and Chiapas, Mexico. For the past 15 years, this organization has been a pillar of hope to communities lacking educational opportunities.
All of the race courses will have aid stations and take you along the waterfront running paths and over the new Mento walking bridge. This is a chip timed event and overall winners will get prizes! There are also t-shirts available and don’t forget all the yummy food!! Come out and support a brand new race!!!
