As a family of five, with two working parents, our on-the-go schedules can make dinners a challenge at times. We are constantly on the run from one job to the next and one activity to another and as much as I’d like to pretend that we do a great job at food prep, the honest truth is that 3 kids under the age of 7 leave us tired and not the best at planning in certain weeks. That is why it is great that food boxes exist – especially Green Chef, one that provides organic ingredients in addition to preportioned recipes. Green Chef has a variety of options:
We tried out the omnivore box and received:
I was surprised by the portion size, while still staying in a manageable caloric range. One of the big knocks about food boxes is that they don’t produce enough food (or perhaps it has a little to do with us not fully knowing what a serving size should be). However, the Garbanzo Bean Fideos provided a surprisingly large and filling serving size, and stayed under 850 calories in doing so. I could have probably split it up into two lunch size meals had I wanted to (hey, I was hungry – don’t judge). And it was still flavorful and diverse! The Chicken and Veggie Pho was also super fresh and delicious – a dish I was happy to try and experience, but probably wouldn’t have tried otherwise. The Curried Pork Chops were FANTASTIC, filling, and completely sold me on the Green Chef box. I definitely think there is something to the belief (fact?) that organic foods taste fresher and better. These stack up cost-wise, and exceed in flavor many other food boxes out there. I’d definitely recommend giving them a try.Subscription: Green Chef
