What Run Oregon is Trying: Getting the Stink Out with Remodeez

remodeez footwear deodorizer

I’m not going to lie. After I’ve put in some miles in my running shoes, they don’t exactly smell fresh. After awhile they just plain stink! What do you expect? Your feet contain 250,000 sweat glands. Your poor shoes don’t even have a chance! Until now.

Meet remodeez.

Smart. Safe. Effective. remodeez provides an odorless and non-toxic solution to remove – not mask – everyday odors. While most products rely on harsh chemicals and fragrance to cover up smells, remodeez neutralizes odor using activated charcoal derived from coconut husks to absorb odor at the source. remodeez is hypoallergenic, and toxin free. Use them in your shoes, gym bag, car, or home.

remodeez will outsmart smell wherever smells exist.

I got to try out remodeez footwear deodorizers recently. I decided the best way to really be sure these were working was to put one in just one shoe and leave the other shoe au natural. For about 3 weeks, I regularly inserted a remodeez into my right shoe after a run, leaving my left shoe unaltered. I know this sounds kind of gross, but the only way to truly test the effectiveness of the remodeez was the smell test. Initially, I noticed a slight difference in smell between the right and left shoe. But, after using the remodeez regularly for 3 weeks, there was a definite difference in smell between my right and left shoes. I’d say remodeez definitely gets the stink out of your shoes. Now I need to put the other one in my left shoe so that they are both stink-free! I really like the fact that this product doesn’t try to mask the odor by adding more odors to my shoes. I haven’t found any of those odor masking products to be effective.

I also have a On-the-Go remodeez which is designed for gym bags, luggage, backpacks, etc. However, I recently washed my gym bags, so I was unable to test that one at this time. But, now that I know it works, I don’t have to worry about testing it. I will just throw it in my bag and let the remodeez do its stink-absorbing magic.

The cool thing about remodeez is that you can recharge them as needed by just setting them out in direct sunlight. Each remodeez should last (with recharging) for about a year. When it’s time for a new remodeez, you can cut open the old one and recycle the charcoal by putting it into your compost pile or garden. A product that is natural enough to just put back into the soil? That’s pretty cool!

Remodeez also carries a home deodorizer for places like hampers, refrigerators, pet areas, etc., and an automotive deodorizer for your vehicles. The home and auto deodorizers come in a single pack and sell for $9.99, while the footwear and on the go deodorizers come in a two-pack at the same price. You can purchase these online at remodeez.com or Amazon.  You can also find them at Fleet Feet Sports, Target, The Container Store, ACE Hardware, or Natural Grocers.
