Portland Marathon Clinic Free Long Run for Saturday, July 8, 2017

The run this weekend is at Athleta’s store in the Pearl District at 1001 NW Couch. The store will be open at 7:30a, so please arrive early if you are a last-minute-bathroom-break person; otherwise take care of business before you arrive.

Distances for this week are 14, 16, and 18 miles, all of which will be run on an out-and-back course that will be supported with 2 aid stations courtesy of Athleta. The sponsors for the PMC not only open their businesses for the hundreds of runners that show up, their employees help at the aid stations on these longer-distance runs. It’s wonderful how these businesses support our running community.

The route for this weekend will head to the river and then turn north, going over the Steel Bridge and zig-zagging through NE Portland to N. Willamette Blvd and past the University of Portland. The first turnaround, at 7 miles, is just a few blocks past the Pilots’ Merlo Field. Those doing 16 will be turning back pretty quickly after crossing Lombard. And those running 18 will make it all the way to the North Peninsula Trail (and then some) before they head back.

The run starts at 8a sharp, plan to be there by 7:45 so you can locate your pace group and everyone can head out on time.

About Author

We started the Run Oregon blog in February 2007, because felt like running in Oregon and SW Washington deserved more positive coverage. We also wanted to level the playing field so that small, non-profit races could compete with big events; and to support local race organizers.
