The first in a series of 14 all-comer youth track meets will be held this Saturday, May 7, in Hood River. TrackTown Youth League meets are free and open to ages 8-14. Participants do not need to have any formal coaching or competitive experience to participate; the events welcome those new to track and field as well as youth that has competed in other meets.
At each meet, there will be a 100 m dash, a 400 m dash, a 1500 m dash, a long jump, and a turbojav throw. You can pre-register your young athlete online here and usually at the meet as well. Age groups are ages 8-10, 11-12, and 13-14 and athletes are also divided into boys and girls for competition.
The top two finishers in each event will advance to the TrackTown Youth League Championship, held during the U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trials at Hayward Field on July 9.
