Oregon Track Club Presents the Inaugural Sub 4 Reunion 5/27/16 (Eugene, Ore.)

I’m pleased to report that Oregon Track Club (OTC) will be presenting the inaugural Sub 4 Reunion, occurring Friday, May 27, 2016. This event, which is also a fundraising event for OTC, begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Jacqua Center, prior to the start of the Prefontaine Classic at Hayward Field.

Holy smokes! Can you imagine running a sub-4 minute mile?! I can only dream of it, myself! The Sub 4 Reunion celebrates the 10 men who, under the expert coaching of Bill Bowman, broke 4 minutes in the mile distance.

“Ten runners from the University of Oregon: Jim Bailey, Jim Grelle, Dyrol Burleson, Keith Forman, Archie San Romani, Wade Bell, Dave Wilborn, Arne Kvalheim, Roscoe Divine and Steve Savage broke the 4-minute mile barrier under the tutelage of iconic track and field coach Bill Bowerman from 1956 to 1970 – and each of them has a fascinating story to tell.”

The event runs from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. After the event, head over to Hayward Field to watch the free events on the first night of the 42nd Prefontaine Classic. Tickets are $25, or $20 for OTC members. Ever run a sub-4 minute mile? You may enter the event free. Appetizers will be available, and Hop Valley Brewing will be debuting a Sub 4 Ale, which is being brewed for this very special occasion.

Social hour will start things off at 5:30 p.m., then a panel discussion will take place with the 10 athletes at 6:30 p.m. Andrew Wheating and Tom Farrell, of Oregon Track Club Elite, will be the emcees of the event.

Remember – after the Sub 4 Reunion concludes at 7:30 p.m., head over to Hayward Field to watch the free events at the 42nd Annual Prefontaine Classic!
