Girls on the Run PDX needs your help!

Admit it ladies – it’s crossed your mind that you should become a running buddy. Right?! We all know we should be active in our community, and as a runner, what better way to give back than to take this challenge on?! Girls on the Run PDX is currently signing up running buddies for the season and will need close to 600 this year. Should you choose to accept this, you will be partnered up with a girl from the program and run or walk the practice 5k (on Thursday, May 7th) and their new 5k (Saturday, May 30th at Greenway Park in Beaverton) with them. Providing encouragement, support, and enthusiasm is a requirement.

New this year, there will be a variety of team locations to choose from – ensuring that your practice 5k with your girl will be in your area. The cost is $35 which is used to just cover the costs of a background check, the 5k registration and their running buddy shirt. Running buddies are also picking locations this year; they will run the practice 5k at their buddy’s program site.
If you are unable to be a buddy consider providing some support by going to their annual fundraiser – a silent and live auction “Celebrate Being 10 Again!”. It will be held on Saturday, May 2nd at the Mercy Corps Headquarter. Tickets are $50, include beer, wine and food, and all proceeds will go towards keeping the Girls on the Run program running. They would love to have those from the running community attend or contribute.
