Coach Jim’s free marathon training for Saturday, March 14, 2015

This Saturday, March 14, Coach Jim’s free marathon and half marathon training run is starting from the Grand Central Bakery at 714 N. Fremont St. in Portland.

Attendees should park on the surface streets around the bakery, not in the lot – just as a sign of respect to the business, which allows the group to meet there, use the restrooms, etc. This allows their regular customers to find easy parking!

The first 8 miles is what Coach Jim is calling a “Tour of Alameda” – because you’ll run through some beautiful neighborhoods. The run is a large loop that travels along NE Fremont to NE 57th and back on roads that travel past Grant High School and through the Irvington District.

After a quick break at the Bakery, the pace group leaders will round their runners up again and head north for another 8 miles; an out-and-back that runs along the bluff along Willamette Blvd.

Bring your own hydration and nutrition, dress in layers, and stick with your pace group!
