Run Oregon Tunes – A Very Running Christmas Playlist

I’ll be honest with you, I am pretty stringent when it comes to Christmas music. I am not one of those individuals who switches on the Christmas Carols as soon as November rolls around. December 1st is my starting date, and I get exactly 31 days 25 days of seasonal tunes.

I am a traditionalist by nature and my favorites are those sung by Burl Ives and Bing Crosby (shoot – my favorite Christmas of ALL TIME is White Christmas). But at the same time, I just need those songs for a certain mood – and running is not the place where I can enjoy them. I need something a little more upbeat, driving, and keeps me motivated out in the cold and precipitation in December.

That’s why I put this playlist together.

Be warned first and foremost, that these songs are not your tried and true options – these are remixes, covers, and interpretations of the classics. There are even a couple of original takes. Some are out a little more out there than others, but each provides a little more energy and emotion to keep you putting one foot in front of the other.

I utilized this playlist actually a day before my deadline of 12/1 – at the Winter Wonderland of Lights. I literally got chills (emotional ones) and I guarantee it kept my pace at the 7 minute range for those freezing 6 miles. I am not saying to replace your Chipmunk Christmas or Mariah Carey Christmas albums, but maybe toss this one on during your next run for shaking things up.

Merry Christmas!
