With a passion for the great outdoors, the Outdoor Vitals team realized the need for better shorts, and their dedication resulted in the Skyline Trail Shorts that offer a perfect blend of protection, versatility, and comfort for high mileage and multi-day escapades.

When it comes to visuals, the Skyline Trail Shorts are pretty simplistic. The come in black or a muted blue – nothing too flashy and that’s OK. What’s more important is the function.

Crafted with a 2-way stretch woven polyester fabric treated with DWR, they provide the durability and water-resistance needed for rugged terrain. Additionally, the jersey knit mesh used in the secondary fabric ensures breathability, allowing you to stay cooler even when your body temperature is rising.

The 8-inch inseam offers ample coverage while allowing freedom of movement. Some people prefer shorter shorts – and while I land somewhere around a 5-7 inch most times – I do like the option of longer shorts like these from time to time, especially on the trails.

The gusseted crotch provides give in the long strides and the mesh panels do an excellent job of keeping the air flowing. There are two hip pockets perfect for storing essentials, and an internal pocket for added convenience.

We truly appreciate the fact that OV is providing two versions: one with a supportive jersey mesh brief liner, and another without a liner, catering to individual preferences. I generally prefer my trail shorts unlined, and I was happy they gave the option.

The Skyline Trail Shorts are light (though not the lightest shorts in your running wardrobe) and durable – a combo that is super welcome on the trails this summer – and beyond.
