Run all Day at the Bristow 24/12 Endurance Run

I’m mean seriously. SERIOUSLY?! How many Run Oregon Blog readers do we have that have endured a 12 or 24 hour run? Please comment if you have – I want to personally shake your hand!

Let me fill you in on one such 24 hour event – the Elijah Bristow 24/12 Run, which starts Saturday, July 1st at 8a at Elijah Bristow State Park, pretty close to Eugene. Participants may choose a 24 hour, 12 hour or 6 hour event – we have important choices to make here about how crazy we are, right?

A quick preview of the course. Each lap through Elijah Bristow State Park is very slightly over 1 mile. You’ll get to know the one mile loop extremely well. A portion of the course takes you along the river, and is mostly single track. There is a spot of pavement at the aid station and timing areas. There are gentle grades along the loop, and access to the aid station every mile!

The aid station is stocked with a ton of food and drink options (water, GU electrolyte drink, GU gels, peanut butter & jelly sandwiches, Gummi bears, chips, Fig Newtons, bananas, and oranges). Plus, keeping a Bristow tradition alive, you can order hot food from a rotating menu (i.e. burgers, quesadillas, pancakes, bacon, etc.) at the beginning of a lap and the race will have it ready on your next lap.

Your crew is welcome to be on site supporting you (and they can volunteer at the race, too!). There is plenty of space to set-up. And if you, or your crew, need anything, just ask. The race directors have seriously thought of everything. I am so very, very impressed. You do not need a crew as Go Beyond has everything you need to run solo as well.

“Proceeds from this event support the the Cascade Volunteers. They work to connect individuals and communities to the Willamette National Forest and adjacent public lands through programs, stewardship, and education.
