AhhWooooo! The Jack Wolfskin Mono Commute Jacket is Howlin’ Good

Even when we are showcasing new-to-us companies in the outdoors sphere, it’s always amazes us when we stumble upon those who have been in the game for such a long time but just out of radar – not by desire, but just hadn’t yet made a connection. One such company is Jack Wolfskin, a 40-year-old German brand known for high-performing apparel great for long days on the trail.

And while they have been doing this for a while, they are now just making their items available to the US.

While the weather is slowly starting to turn towards warmer temps and drier days, we still live in the PNW. You know never know what you are going to get from the sky. Thus, it is still important to have coverage for when the elements inevitably show themselves.

The new highly sustainable Mono Commute Jacket from Jack Wolfskin is a great multi-talented option to bring into your urban commute, singletrack vacation, or urban cycling workout.

It is designed for cycling and commuting in mind, though it can tackle most situations quite well. It has a longer back than the front, which keeps you covered while you’re on the bike. The jacket’s mesh lining is breathable, so you don’t overheat during intense activities. The jacket’s fit is snug but not too tight, leaving you with enough room for layering.

The jacket feels sturdy and reliable but at the same time lightweight and flexible. It is equipped with multiple pockets, including a large one on the back, about the size of an iPad (if you really needed to cart that around) or other essentials. The zippers are high-quality and easy to use, and the sleeves have adjustable cuffs to keep the cold air out.

There are also reflectors on it – perfect for cycling – that can be removed to have it look more like an everyday jacket than a sole-cycling one. Multifunctionality at its finest!

The “mono” in the Mono Commute Jacket is due to its construction consisting of just one material. That material is 100% recycled polyester fabric, setting industry standards in sustainability, innovation, and performance.

This is awesome on a number of fronts, one of which is that with just one material to deal with, the jacket can be easily recycled at the end of its use. That’s a huge step forwards in circular fashion and apparel waste. When it comes time to recycle this jacket, only the reflectors and zippers need to be removed.

This jacket is built for the eco-conscious biker, hiker, and urban commuter (or beach-goer, as seen in our pictures) – and seemingly with Oregon in mind. It features Texapore Ecosphere fabric – which is both waterproof  and windproof. It also has a nice vent system, and plenty of pockets for storage.

Overall, the Jack Wolfskin Mono Commute Jacket is an excellent choice for anyone who needs a reliable and functional waterproof jacket for commuting or outdoor activities.

There are currently two colorways – women’s in Quail and men’s in Grey Olive.

We started the Run Oregon blog in February 2007, because felt like running in Oregon and SW Washington deserved more positive coverage. We also wanted to level the playing field so that small, non-profit races could compete with big events; and to support local race organizers.
