Hills and History Abound at Britt Woods Firehouse Run (Jacksonville)

June 10th will mark the 20th year of the Britt Woods Firehouse Run brought to you by the Southern Oregon Runners. This unique race in Jacksonville includes a 10K (the main event), a 4.3 mile (long loop), a 1.9 mile (short loop), and a 100 yard fun run – for kids and adults. This trail run includes both scenery and history that can’t be missed. The 10K includes 4 challenging hills, the oldest giant sequoia in Oregon, and old mining “glory holes.” I don’t know about you, but I’m intrigued!

Besides the scenery, another unique feature of this race is that the 10K has a staggered start based on age and sex. (All other distances will start as a group.) There are awards, trophies, ribbons, and even a little prize money to possibly be earned. There will also be giveaways from local merchants, and, of course, there will be post-race snacks and water.

Proceeds from this Firehouse Run will, of course, benefit the Jacksonville Engine Co. #1. A good cause, a little Oregon history and scenery, and some good ol’ hill climbing – sounds like a bucket list race to me! Time to get registered!
