As far as style goes, it’s no surprise to learn that the company is HQ’d out of Austin. To me, their items and design feel like this melting pot of southern rustic / hanging out outdoors, enjoying life one craft beer at a time – yet with a updated modern flair that is not quite country and not quite hipster. I have no idea if that makes any sense, but I’m sticking with it. To me, it’s relatively akin to a PDX style – a little bit hipster, but also a little bit not.

We recently tried out two new additions to their lineup this Spring. They are actually two items that have already got some play with this weird Spring Weather. The Mellow Mono Sweatpant got a lot of use in March and early April, while the Bruja Deluxe Boardshort has started to see more use recently.

Bruja Deluxe Boardshort

I love myself some boardshorts. They just provide a casual look that can be ready for whatever they are asked for in the warm months. Need to get in a quick run? They aren’t designed for it, but most are up for the task? Find yourself at an impromptu watering hole? Jump on in! Just want something lounge around or wear to the store? Both settings are fine for shorts. They are almost a multitool of lower body coverings.

These boardshorts are definitely eye-catching, with a simple color – but some color on the sides that gives it pop without going overboard. The cut is a little on the slim side (as it should be)with a 19″ outseam and 8.5″ inseam. The Howler Brothers logo patch on the left leg and embroidery on the back pocket add some extra visual interest.

The construction of these boardshorts is impressive as well. They’re made from a quick-drying 57% cotton / 38% polyester /5% spandex blend that’s both lightweight and durable. The waistband is adjustable with a drawstring closure and a Velcro fly, and there are two side-lined pockets and one pocket on back for stashing small essentials.

When it comes to wearing the Bruja Deluxe Boardshorts, they definitely live up to their name. They’re incredibly “deluxe” – comfortable and easy to move around in, whether you’re hitting the waves or just lounging on the beach. The quick-drying fabric is a lifesaver when it comes to avoiding soggy shorts all day. The only potential downside is that the slim fit might not be as comfortable for some people, so it’s worth trying them on before committing to a size.

But hot dang these puppies are gonna get a lot of play this summer!

Mellow Mono Sweatpant

These sweatpants are definitely a stylish addition to any casual wardrobe. The design is simple but eye-catching, featuring a simple color style – which just a bit of fun flair added in the pockets.

They’re made from a soft and comfortable 85% cotton, 15% poly French terry fabric that is super smooth. The elastic waistband and cuffs provide a snug fit without being too tight, and the drawstring closure adds an extra level of adjustability. They’re incredibly soft and cozy, but also lightweight and breathable enough to wear year-round.

The pockets are deep enough to hold your phone and wallet securely, and the drawstring closure ensures that the waistband stays in place without any slipping or sagging. Overall, these sweatpants have a laid-back, cool vibe that’s perfect for lounging or running errands.

Overall, the Howler Brothers Mellow Mono Sweatpants and Bruja Deluxe Boardshorts are both great products that offer style, comfort, and functionality. Whether you’re looking for a cozy pair of sweatpants to lounge around in or a bold pair of boardshorts for hitting the beach, these are definitely worth checking out!
