We’ve almost made it through another Oregon winter and it’s right about NOW that runners are itching to make plans for the race season ahead. Luckily, Foot Traffic has you covered with two group training options that will get you through the spring and into the summer. You’ll have a couple opportunities to train for the Hop Hop 5k/10k in April, or the Foot Traffic Flat on July 4th out at Sauvie Island. If you’re not looking to do those races, that’s fine too! Join the spring training season for the community, the training, and the motivation to get out there and run!!
Foot Traffic has two training programs, both starting on Saturday February 18th, 2023. The Foot Traffic University training is a co-ed group, and the Women’s Academy is, as you might have guessed, a slightly different flavor with training for all women. You’ll have an option to train through April for the 5k or 10k or to continue all the way through July for the half marathon. It all depends on what you’re looking for.
As a running coach myself, the most common question I get from people that want to be runners or get going again is “how do I get started?” The Foot Traffic Group Training answers this question. The Saturday runs are extremely valuable for guidance and motivation. Every week, runners will show up at one of the 5 Foot Traffic locations to find a marked route waiting for them. The pace group mentors will be there for both runners and walkers, so it’s easy to find “your people” and follow along.
The most valuable piece of the training, in my opinion, is there is a group of friends waiting for you every Saturday, ready to face the same challenges and sweaty miles as you. In addition to that, all registrants will receive a member shirt, some free socks, a medal at the end of training, and race and store discounts. There will also be weekly workout emails and guest speakers on Saturdays so all runners will receive lots of information that they can add to their running toolbox.
There’s a virtual option for you if you’re just not quite ready for the group thing. Those who choose the virtual option will also receive a weekly email and a training plan to follow for the season. They will receive race and store discounts, the member shirt, and the free socks, There is also a medal for them and access to a virtual pace leader.
I myself will be leading the training for the Women’s Academy this Spring and I’d love to see you all there!! If this is your first time, you can use code nikki23 for $5 off when you register or use the code in the details below! I’m really excited and I hope you are too!!
