The Silver Falls Trail Runs are just around the corner . . . well, in November, but they are 75% sold out at the time I am writing this. And the 7 miler is completely sold out! So, if you want to get in on the 5K, 1/2 marathon, marathon, or 50K get registered! Regardless of which distance you choose, all promise scenic views, waterfalls, and hills. Plenty of hills.
Last year I ran the 7 miler for the first time – without the proper training – and it was a doozy! Climbing up several sets of stairs throughout the course seemed way harder than it should have been. But the views throughout the entire run were varied and definitely the highlight of the race. I am already registered and I will be starting my hill training very soon. I even have a crazy stair climb planned on an upcoming trip I’m taking.
This event will take place November 4-6, so be prepared for muddy conditions on the trails and the high possibility of rain (or snow??) on race day. You will definitely want a good pair of trail shoes and running gear for any type of weather!
After each race there will be awards for the top 3 male and female runners, as well as the top 3 in each age division. There will also be a raffle for various prizes. Food, refreshments, and beer will be available after the Saturday and Sunday events. Expect warm veggie chili, Great Harvest Bread, beer, coffee, hot chocolate, and more available on a first come first serve basis.
Run Wild Adventures donates proceeds from this event to help park restoration, maintenance, cleanup, trail building; and also benefit Drakes Crossing Rural Fire Dept. and the Friends of Silver Falls.
