When I first became a runner, one of the stickers I got for the back of my car shared my true intentions for this new hobby: “Training for the zombie apocalypse.” And Run Like Hell is a great race to put those skills to the test in trying to outrun things that bump in the night. Although the theme this year is “Retro Video Games,” it is only a matter of time before someone merges Freddie Krueger and Pac-Man.
This year Terrapin Events is moving the event to start and finish at Milwaukie Elks Lodge, which provides participants plenty of space for parking and for the essential after-party. The half marathon, 10K, and 5K courses use an out-and-back route primarily on the paved Trolley Trail. The live music starts at 10am with the costume contest at 10:30.
During registration, participants can choose between the in-person and virtual options for the event. They can also choose a lower-price entry that does not include a medal or shirt (for those who enjoy the thrill of the miles but not the shiny medal).
