There are some times when the personality of the race leadership makes all the difference. That’s how I feel about the folks putting on the Hit the Barlow Trail 5K. And here’s the two sentences that gave me all the happy feels:
Bibs will be issued, and there will be a race clock, but in the spirit of community no times or places will be kept. All participants will receive a (really cool) finisher award.
Community and a “really cool” finisher award. Yes please.
Beyond that goodness, this 4th annual run/walk is a great way to support Sam Barlow students as proceeds go toward scholarships. The course begins at the Sam Barlow’s campus and uses the same cross country trail as the high school athletes (or there is a track option for those in need… again: goodness!). The first 70 registrants get a FREE long sleeve t-shirt. Kids 10 and under run for free.
Need more goodness? Yes, yes you do. There is also a free Kid’s Dash for littles who want to test their speed with once around the track. And since a grown-up can accompany their little one, maybe test the big one’s speed too. After the races, stick around for booths, vendors, and family fun. Goodness, gracious; what a lovely race morning.
