It’s summer, it’s ultra season, and the 2022 Oregon Cascades 100 will be back for it’s second year. This race, brought to us by the never disappointing Alpine Running, is a Western States 100 qualifier and it’s being held on the weekend of August 27th and 28th this year.
This race is a gorgeous point-to-point course that begins in breathtaking Bend at Pacific Crest Middle School and takes runners into Sisters for some rugged terrain before finishing on the school district’s track. The terrain includes 90% of single-track trails, 9% dirt road, and 1% pavement. This is a fast course, with 12,000 feet of gain and 12,500 feet of loss, and there will be 14 full aid stations and a generous 32 hour cut-off time. You can check out more course details here.
There will be a mandatory bib pick-up on Friday August 26th from 4:00PM to 7:00PM at Cascade Lakes Brewing Company in Bend, and this is also when you will want to drop off your race-day drop bag. The deadline for drop bags will be 7:00PM, and since there will be NO day of race bib pick up or drop bag option that morning, be sure to plan accordingly and stay for a beer if you like as well.
Please note that despite this being a point-to-point race, there will be no shuttle on race day. It’s recommended that you park near the finish in Sisters and arrange for someone to drop you off at the start line in Bend.
After the race, be sure to grab a few goodies from Sisters Bakery and some coffee from Backporch. All finishers will earn themselves a buckle, and there will be purse prizes awarded to the top 3 women and top 3 men.
