If you have never explored the forest park areas in Gresham, then you need to sign up for this race. The Gresham Lilac Run takes participants beyond the regular Springwater paths and city sidewalks into new trails. The 5K, 10K, and half marathon distances each start at Main City Park and the longer distances take off onto Saddle Butte Trail and Hogan Butte Trail. Spring in the Pacific Northwest is absolutely the best and this race is a great way to get out into all that glory.
Children 11 and under have a special opportunity to participant for FREE through the Little Lilac Run. The little ones join in for a 400 or 800-meter dash to earn their own medal and post-run pancakes. Us non-kids can earn a medal and pancakes too… we just have to go a bit farther to earn them.
One last thing I have to highlight is that all proceeds from the race go to Girls on the Run Greater Oregon. This nationwide program supports running, collaboration, and raising up leaders to change the world. As a current GOTR coach, I am grateful for the support of this event in helping grow the program in Gresham.
Come spend a Saturday morning running through the woods.
