The Stars, Stripes & Shelter Virtual 5k will raise funds for two Beaverton non-profits. Family Promise of Beaverton provides social services and shelter to families experiencing homelessness or at risk of losing their housing, and Planting Seeds Community provides additional help to Beaverton School District students. One of the things they help with is deposits so families can move into safe, secure apartments.
Carey Hughes Homes’ sponsorship of the race is covering all of the expenses, so 100% of registration fees will go to the beneficiaries. You can sign up for $20, or choose the $35 registration to donate additional money.
Like most virtual races, you will pick your own route and run on your own; or get your family to join you and make it a big event. You can run or walk any time on July 3, 4, or 5; registration is open through the 4th. Your registration also enters you into a drawing to win a Family Game Night from locally-owned Play.Fit.Fun – sign up the whole family and get an entry for each registration! (Family Game Night includes pizza, drinks, and desserts, along with four awesome family action games, all dropped at your door and picked up the next day.)
