Embarrassing confession time for this Run Oregon Blogger: The first time I ran the Hop Hop Half Marathon, I told everyone for weeks in advance that I was running the Hip Hop Half Marathon. As in the style of music. It wasn’t until race morning that I figured it out.
Another thing I figured out that morning was that this race has a lot of fun elements to it. The course is super flat and uses the Marine Drive bike path, meaning no trains and few car crossings to worry about. And the after party involves a fantastic brunch, including mimosas (you can ask for a virgin one to get some lovely orange juice in a fancy glass). And because this is a Foot Traffic event, the medals are gigantic. Half marathon, 10K, and 5K finishers will receive their shiny medal before they enjoy the feast (seriously, it is a brunch feast).
After your run, stick round for the costume and dance contests, get a picture with the Easter Bunny, and join in the Easter Egg painting.
