Are you ready for one of the oldest half marathons in Oregon? This year marks the 36th running of the Goat Mountain Gallop Half Marathon. This half marathon is organized and directed by the Molalla High School track and cross country teams with proceeds benefiting both teams. This is a challenging point to point course that includes rolling hills and the mile long Grimm Reaper. Despite the hills, there is actually an elevation loss on this course that begins at Colton High School and ends at Molalla High School. This rural race will take runners (and walkers) through scenic forest and farm land, and over the Molalla River.
Parking will be at Molalla High School with a shuttle bus taking participants to the start line. (Check website for shuttle times.) There will be a gear check at the start line and your gear will be transported back to the finish for you.
All finishers will receive a medal and there will be awards for first place overall male and female. After the race enjoy a pancake breakfast while you enjoy the camaraderie of fellow racers. The high school locker rooms will even be available if you wish to shower after your run! Just remember to bring your own towel and shower supplies.
This low-key event is a great way to support young runners and get in a budget-friendly half marathon away from traffic-laden streets. Come out and enjoy a run in the farm fresh country air, sure to put a smile on your face and a spring in your step! 🙂
