Medford is a great area to run, and the Volklaufe 25K/5K on January 18th would be a prime way to enjoy it. Hosted by the Southern Oregon Runners group, this race is also a USATF Oregon 25K Championship race.
Registration is currently online at runsignup.com with the 25K at $35 and the 5K at $20 until January 16th. Runners 18 years of age and younger can register for either race for $7. Members of the Southern Oregon Runners club will also get a $5 discount on the entry fees. The race address is 816 Black Oak Drive in Medford, at St. Marys School. The longer race starts at 9 and the 5K follows ten minutes later.
The running season never truly ends and this January will be a good event to keep the rust off. The slightly later than average start time should avoid at least some of the deeper chill of winter while the clear air of southern Oregon would make this a pleasurable run.
