I have been impressed with Toad & Co. as for a while now. The coupling of well-made clothes with outdoor sensibilities, with a commitment to sustainability and eco-friendliness really put these guys at the top of the list. While they make items that really scream Pacific Northwest (in my opinion), their roots are in the mountain town of Telluride, CO – and that’s the inspiration behind their new Telluride Sherpa Hoodie. Here’s a little description:
Our Telluride, CO roots course through the fibers of the Sherpa collection. When it comes to fending off chap mountain air, nothing drops the hammer like the Sherpa’s soul warming recycled wool fleece. Reclaimed Italian wool is blended with nylon for strength, all in a low-pile package of perfection. The Sherpa Hoodie’s simple design and execution leaves nothing to be desired and a knowing nod to old Jack Frost.
Inspired by our formative years in Telluride, we use reclaimed wool from old garments to make our signature Heritage Sherpa Fleece. The wool is processed in a family run mill in Italy using mechanical (not chemical) means. It’s blended with nylon for strength and that low-pile look.
This cozy sweater just screams “fall”. Much like other Todd & Co items, this hoodie is a PNW staple. It looks casual and warm enough to wear to a Timbers game, yet can also double as a quasi-formal hoodie for a casual night out in much of the city. It can even be a pre- and post-run layer, which I have been utilizing this for over the past few weeks. It’s very warm and super inviting after those chilly runs that we had in much of October and November. It’s soft, but with a certain rugged quality that screams to be comfortable out-and-about as opposed to just a piece of apparel to laze around the house in (though both can be accomplished quite nicely in this top).
I think the sizing is pretty on point, and there is some room available for layering items underneath – though it feels quite nice and warm even with just a tee-shirt underneath. It’s length in both the torso and the arms is quite nice as well, something that isn’t always the case with me.
Overall, there really isn’t a reason why this top shouldn’t be a consideration to add to your closet. It’s functionality makes it ideal for not only runners looking to stay warm, but also for any PNW individual.
