Looking for a fun race to do before your hangover run on New Year’s Day and after stuffing your face since Thanksgiving? This years Fanciest 5K. Ever. will not disappoint as you try and squeeze yourself into that old suit or dress you haven’t been able to fit in since before the holidays. The idea is to dress up and don your finest linens as you race through Wallace Marine and Riverfront parks in the heart of Salem while raising money to help fight human trafficking.
This is the second year of the Fanciest 5K and let me tell you, it was a blast! The race starts and ends at the Courthouse Fitness Club in West Salem, and loops through Wallace Marine Park, over the Union Street Railroad Bridge, through Riverfront Park, and back to the gym for the finish line festivities. This is a fairly flat course and has no traffic which makes it even easier to hit a new PR in a suit, dress, slacks, or whatever fancy outfit you deem worthy!
All of the money raised is donated to Safety Compass, a non profit that provides “Navigational support for commercial sexual exploitation survivors on the path to healing and justice” all confidentially and at no cost to survivors. You can donate here even if you are not running the race.
