Race Preview: 2019 WillaMutt Strut 5k & 1k Fun Run/Walk (Salem)

I’ve always had a soft spot for animals because they can’t speak up for themselves when they are placed in a bad situation. Raising money for organizations like the Willamette Humane Society is important and well deserved, and doing the 2019 WillaMutt Strut 5k & 1k Fun Run/Walk is going to be a fun way to do so.

This event on June 2nd at Riverfront Park in Salem, OR, will be a non-competitive 5k run (or 1 mile walk) and all four-legged friends are welcome to join their owners to get out and enjoy the day. This will be a very family-friendly event, and all kids 12 and under can participate free with the purchase of a registered adult. The registration for adults is $30 (price goes up to $35 after May 26th,) and includes a shirt and snacks. You can also gather a group and register as a team, or just get out there and do it yourself.

There will be vendor booths, activities, and contests to keep everyone entertained, as well as food trucks and beverages. Stay for some music courtesy of a live band, and stick around for the dog games. There will also be a parade of adoptable dogs and maybe you’ll find a new running partner to take home with you.

The demonstrations and contest fun starts at 9:00AM and the walk/run will take off at 10:30AM. Festivities will continue until 1:00PM. Try to get there early, as doggie bandanas will be given on a first come, first serve basis. Goodie bags will also only be available on a limited basis.

Come check it out!
