Running Meme and Strava Segment of the Week: Mary S. Young Upper Loop

This week, the segment is on a trail that not everyone may know about, although it’s a gem – and part of a longer loop run that connects Mary S. Young and George Roberts Parks in West Linn and Lake Oswego, respectively.

The Mary S. Young Upper Loop segment is a flat, 1.3-mile loop on nice, soft trail. When you check out the map of the segment, you’ll be able to see a map of the park and all the criss-crossing trails you might not have been aware of, and you can see how you could easily log some good miles in the park.

The current leaders of this segment from the Run Oregon Strava Club are Matt Welch, who completed the loop in 6:49, and Carolyn Gilchriese, who did it in 9:02. Join the 298 members of the Run Oregon Strava Club – Strava is free, and it’s a great way to find new routes, get some support for your running, and cheer on others.

About Kelly Barten (1049 Articles)
I started the Run Oregon blog in February 2007, because I felt like running in Oregon and SW Washington deserved more positive coverage. I also wanted to level the playing field so that small, non-profit races could compete with big events; and to support LOCAL race organizers. I'm a Creighton Bluejay (undergrad) and an Oregon Duck (Sports Marketing MBA), and I live in Tigard with my husband and two kids. My "real job" is working for an incredibly awesome math textbook company doing marketing and production.
